Helping women In crisis

Become confident, independent and self-sufficient.

Hampton Roads Haven

The women we serve have nowhere to live for a variety of reasons. Underemployment, unemployment, bad credit, substance abuse, domestic violence, health and mental health concerns, previous incarceration or unable to work due to many of life’s circumstances.

When an individual has no safe place to stay, it is almost impossible to move forward with life. Hampton Roads Haven provides the first step in transition by providing a safe, supervised and stable environment. Along with a stable environment, Hampton Roads Haven staff will connect women with the necessary supportive services to become self-sufficient.

The Program

Hampton Roads Haven Staff work with each individual woman to develop a Life Action Plan, consisting of the following:

Goals:

To find employment opportunities and maintain professionalism.

To assist women with Educational goals and GED Preparation.

Life Skills:

Conflict Resolution- Assistance with conflict resolution in their
   personal and workplace lives.

Our Mission

Our mission is helping women in crisis become confident, independent and self-sufficient. We provide comprehensive supportive services, housing and the necessary skills to prevent and break the cycle of homelessness.

Hampton Roads Haven (dba Barrett Haven) is a 501 (c) 3 Non-profit organization (EIN #31-148-3263). Hampton Roads Haven not only provides housing, we provide our residents with various outlets for personal growth and well-being. This includes a program dedicated to workshops and classes including but not limited to: financial understanding, emotional and physical health, maintaining positive relationships, continuing education, life skills, case management and more. Our success rate is 93% and is only possible through generous support from the community.

Our program is a unique one that assists all women of all walks of life: veterans, ex-offenders, substance abuse survivors, which is a population that is often neglected. Hampton Roads Haven relies heavily on community support and involvement. We operate with a small staff, active board of directors and an extensive volunteer base. We are funded through generous contributions of private and foundation donations and fundraising events.

Thank you for your support and encourage you to join our mission. Your generosity will assist in the accomplishment of guiding our residents to self-sufficiency. We believe that within every woman is the strength to change and Hampton Roads Haven is proof.

Become confident, independent and self-sufficient.
